Jake DeBroux '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jake DeBroux. I am obsessed with golf and want to compete at the highest level possible in college with the dream of hopefully playing on the PGA Tour. I understand that hard work and putting in the reps are the most important factors to success both athletically and academically. 

I am not like most recruits, I haven't been playing golf since I was a little kid. I started playing the game in August of 2020.  It was the summer before my freshman year of high school and some buddies asked if I wanted to play. I was hooked from that point forward. I spent the next few months working on my game and checking off some golf goals I had. The first goal was to break 100. I was able to do this after playing for about 2 months. Then I started to take lessons, with the goal of making my High School golf team in the Spring of 2021. I was able to make the JV team that season and played as the 2 man. My scoring average was 44. When summer started all I wanted to do was play and work on my game. I spent every available minute I had at the River Falls Golf Club learning my swing and working on fundamentals. At the end of the summer my family and I moved to Naples, Florida. Since the golf season had already started in Florida I decided to sit my sophomore year out and continue to work on my game. I played in as many tournaments as I could before my junior year, and while I didn't have the success I hoped for in all my events, my fundamentals and short game helped give me my first win. I relied heavily on those strengths during my junior year. This was my first season on the Naples High School Varsity Golf team. I was able to compete as the 2 man, with a scoring average of 37.3. I also qualified for state as an individual, with a T-30 finish. This summer I am excited to play in as many events as possible to keep working towards my goals and continue to get my game stronger and ready for the next level.
