Personal Statement

I have been golfing since I was eight years old. I now play at Lincoln College working on improving my game and I would love to have the  opportunity to play at a Division 1 University.
I am a team leader and try to lead by example. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working golfers you’ll find.
In the classroom, I study hard.  I also volunteer at local youth camps and I've  worked at a golf club so I could work extra on my golf game.
My dream is to play at a Division 1 College where I can push myself on the golf course.  I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.

  • Decatur, IL – The men’s golf team competed in the Big Blue Classic hosted by Millikin University this past weekend at Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur, IL. Lincoln freshman Hunter Bettis finished tied for 8th place with a 2-day score of 76-70/146. Bettis moved up 12 spots with his second day score of even par 70. The conditions were blustery with sustained winds of 12-15 mph with gusts up to 35 mph but the course was in excellent condition. Head coach Jeff Nelson commented, “I thought the second day was a bit tougher than the first, but four of our guys improved their scores, which is encouraging. Bettis continues to be our solid #1 this year but we need a couple of our other players to lower their scores on a more consistent basis.” The event saw mostly NCAA Division III schools with the exception of Lincoln College and Parkland College. Parkland College won the event and also had the medalist for the event. Other scores for the Lynx were as follows: Freshman Peter Greening (T54) – 78-83/161 Freshman Josh Matthews (60) – 84-80/164 Freshman Hunter Leach (T62) – 88-78/166 Freshman Cody Curry (65) – 87-81/168 The golf team will next be on the links on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th at Swan Lake Golf Resort in Plymouth, IN at the NJCAA Fall Preview Tournament.
