Something that sets me apart from the rest in all aspects is my self-motivation to get whatever goal I have done, done and exceeded.
In terms of my golf game, I’ve grown a lot in a short period of 2 years of barely discovering the sport. Growing up, I tried many different sports however I hadn't found " the one", that wasn't until I entered the world of golf. I never really understood the sport, as no one in my family had ever really played, until I started caddying in the 2021 season (in aspirations of attaining the Chick Evans Scholarship), in which I eagerly picked up the sport that August starting with just a goal to become great at the game and box set of clubs that were 2 clubs too short for me. During my first month of playing, I tried out for my school's team with only a range session's worth of experience beforehand and shot 130+ for 18 holes, however the coaches still placed me on the Junior Varsity team as they were fond of my character and perseverance. My love for the game has only grown since I've started as, even through the off-season, I've never put my clubs down in aspirations of constantly improving and perfecting my game. While I've started later than most, this hasn't stopped me from pursuing being the best; I aspire to continue to shave strokes off of my game, introduce the sport to many family members and peers, make many connections, and develop as an individual all through the game of golf.
In terms of my academics, I have always demonstrated great scholarly qualities. The most notable demonstration of these qualities is the fact I've maintained a >3.5 GPA and have been an honor roll student for as long as I can remember. At an early age, I was taught the importance of education as something that will always be beneficial to me and my future. This understanding is what has pushed me to academically excel to such an extent, where I have always wanted to come out greater than I was no matter the situation or the scores of others. Which, in the end, this mindset has led me to always surpass expectations and attain many goals I've set for myself.
In terms of teamwork, I'd like to view myself as a strong leader as I always wish for the best for those on my team and constantly make the effort to be there and motivate my teammates that need that push. Golf is considerably one of the most mental sports in the world, in which being a leader, either by example or through teamwork, is something that I believe is very essential to improving our playing overall. I wish to not only be a great individual athlete on the team, but to also be a valuable asset to the team.
No matter the challenge of the work, I always make sure to get it done to the best of my abilities.Overall, my commitment to achieve my strong goals has gotten me far and continues to take me even further within the game of golf.
