Cade Bastian '22 Recruiting Profile

As a senior in high school, I have worked hard to get where I am today. Without support from my family and friends, I would not be in the position I am in. I have been playing golf for nearly nine years, and I have been playing hockey for thirteen. I have played other sports such as soccer, baseball, and football at younger ages as well. My dad introduced me to golf around the age of eight. As I have spent time on the golf course, I have discovered that anger and frustration don’t bring positive impacts on one’s game, and taking the game one shot at a time is much more effective.

My goal, academically, is to continue to excel in my classes. Athletically, my goal is to play golf at a competitive level. There are always obstacles when it comes to golf, whether it be a bad shot or a poor round overall, yet my love for the sport has always helped me overcome these adversities. As a leader to my team, I offer support and a helping hand to my teammates, relentlessly pushing them to better themselves as golfers and as people. We are now an older high school team this year with many from the class of 2022 and a few from the class of 2023. I know that this season is our year to put up some good numbers. In addition to leadership, I am a hard worker, and I am eager to learn from my mistakes. I have also been a leader in hockey, and I have been the captain of my team since my freshman year.

Along with school and sports, I have also been very involved in my community. I attend youth group weekly. I have been on two mission trips, one to Worthington, Minnesota in 2019, and another to Gilbert, South Carolina in the summer of 2021. Through serving others, I have learned patience. Hearing about other’s lives has been a true blessing that I wouldn’t trade for the world. And most of all, the relationships and bonds that I have created mean the world to me and will last a lifetime.
