My name is Dillan Mori, and I am a varsity golfer in the graduating class of 2021. I have played golf all throughout my life, and I have always dreamed of golfing at the collegiate level. I am a good fit for a college team because I am an athlete, an extremely hard worker, I set my goals high, and I put in the work to achieve them. I also consider myself to be a natural leader. I take pride in lifting those around me, as well as pushing myself to improve my skills. It is important to me that my team is successful as an entire unit. I am one who sets a good example for others to follow. I make the right decisions for myself and encourage that for my teammates. I have had the fortunate opportunity to serve my high school team as a varsity captain due to my ability to demonstrate leadership and help make my teammates better at the game of golf. I am very proud of this and consider this role as one of my most significant accomplishments.
My love for the game of golf goes back many years. My dad and I would play nine holes just about every day after school or on the weekends since around the age of seven. My dad taught me so much about the game, not just executing golf fundamentals, but about concentration, attitude, and passion. Since those early memories of learning to play and love to golf, I knew that this was the game I wanted to play throughout my life. As a younger student, I enjoyed participating in many sports, such as baseball, basketball, football, and track. Very early in my high school career, I made the decision to focus all of my time and attention on my academics and my golf game.
I believe that being a student-athlete is the most crucial part of playing high school or college golf. In my high school career as a golfer, I have dedicated my attention to being successful in honors and Advanced Placement classes. It is my belief that I can only be an accomplished student-athlete if I am setting high academic goals and achieving them as well.
I am an exceptional candidate to play golf at the collegiate level next year. I have the determination to be successful, the passion for the game, the discipline to balance academics and athletics, and the drive to achieve my every goal. Thank you for taking the time to read more about myself as a person, a golfer, and a student.
