When it comes to thinking about what I want my college golf experience to look like, a few goals and aspirations come up as important keys to both a successful and productive one. One of the biggest goals I have is to see continual improvement and growth with each season in my personal game, as I want to both contribute to the advancement of my team and continue hitting personal goals. I would also like to see consistency in my game with tournaments and my scoring, win at least three events during my time in college either as an individual or as a team, and maintain the balance of keeping both my golf game and my academics grades where they need to be and beyond. While every team can be made up of players that can shoot low and be consistent, having a team of players that show characteristics of being an excellent player with a quality character can mean so much more. Though I would consider myself a hardworking, passionate, driven individual when it comes to the game of golf, I possess many more qualities. I have been taught from a young age the proper professionalism and sportsmanship that comes with the game of golf and how important it is, regardless of age, to show this at all times whether it be in practice or in a tournament. I have been entrusted by several different coaches and mentors in my life to help communicate to others the importance of proper etiquette on the course and lead my fellow players in ways to help not only improve their game, but help the team grow as a whole. Many qualified candidates will have similar strengths to my own, but I do have a few that I believe set me apart from the crowd. In every shape and form, whether it is in my athletics, my academics, or my character, I am a hardworker beyond what is expected of me. I push myself to a standard that has me working with 110% effort all of the time. I am always pushing myself in my golf game to make improvements on the course; if I do not understand something academically, I work above what is required to improve my grades and my skills. Academically, I am always open to new subjects I have not studied before and am willing to expand my knowledge to places that my college major may not take me. In terms of my character, my exposure to professionalism early on, both in environments such as on the golf course and in my business-like settings like DECA, sets me up for this concept early on that some college students may have never been exposed to before. I also put others before myself and am always willing to lend a helping hand when it is needed with no expectations of any personal gain; I truly enjoy being able to help when I am available to.
