My name is Mason Bowie and I am a member of the graduating class of 2025 at Nashoba Regional High School. Golf has always been a part of my life. My family has been a member of The Haven Country Club since 2010 and prior to that we belonged to The International Golf Course in Bolton, MA. I have had a set of clubs in my hands since I was two years old. I would play casually with my family and enter club championships and win my age group without really playing often. I was a member of the Junior PGA where I learned golf etiquette and had fun playing with friends. My parents and the Pros always told me I had a natural swing but honestly I really didn't think anything of it. When I turned 13 years old golf became my passion. I started playing 6-7 times per week and when not playing I could be found at the range, short range, chipping area, and/or putting green. Between the ages of 13 and 15 my handicap went from a 20 to a 5.1. My current goal by the end of my sophmore summer is to be a scratch golfer.
Along with golf I have been playing baseball since I was 6. I currently play on a club team called Evolution. We travel all over the country playing in tournaments. I feel as though playing baseball has helped my golf game. I have learned how to control speed, direction, and distance. Along with baseball and golf, lifting weights to get stronger and faster is a part of my regualr routine at least four times weekly.
This summer I have multiple tournaments arranged through the JR. NEPGA. I am looking forward to playing Farmneck and The Vineyard Golf Club as well as many other tournaments. In my opinion competition is the best way to become a better competitor.
I reconnected with a PGA professional about 3 years who I currently take weekly swing lessons from year round. During Covid lockdown when my classes were remote I would be on the golf course by 11 am every day or I would be in the simulator with my swing coach year round. Last summer I got a job on the grounds crew at The International Golf Course and have met some amazing people. By working on a golf course my appreciation and respect for the golf course and the game has changed my views of golf. I now know that golf is and will always be my passion. I am willing to do what ever it takes to take it to the next level of competition. I am a very mentally tough individual and thrive on competition. I am ready to impress anyone. I am very eager to get my next chapter started.
