My name is Perry Flagg, and I am a junior at Wachusett High School in Holden, Massachusetts. I have been a member of the varsity golf team for the the past three years and was captain during the 2022 season. I have been selected as captain for the 2023 season.
I started playing golf when I was young and have played competitively since I was six years old. I still love the game. I played various sports in elementary and middle school - soccer, basketball, baseball, flag football. However, golf is the game that I am enthusiastic about and the one that appeals to me most. The driving range and the golf course are like my second home.
Through playing, I have learned that golf builds character. The game has taught me the importance of focus, hard work, and determination; valuable lessons that apply to my game, my education, and life in general. It has also taught me honesty, integrity, and perseverance. Individual competition and striving for excellence are important to my performance on the golf course and in the classroom. I have maintained a 4.42 weighted GPA (3.95 unweighted). Equally important is my commitment to my team members on my high school golf team.
Living in New England does not allow me to play year-round. When I cannot practice on the driving range or the golf course in the off-season, I practice at the golf simulator. I also practice my swing at home in our finished basement, which now has many divots in the ceiling! Practicing to improve my game never feels like work to me.
My goal is to play college golf and, in the future, incorporate my love for the game with my interest in computers and engineering to pursue a career relating to the golf industry.
