I would be lying if I said I loved every moment I have had on the course. There have been ups and downs, eagles and triples, incredible saves and disastrous starts. In each of those moments, I have come to appreciate the opportunity in front of me, and have grown to love everything the game represents. The game of golf has made me a better person on and off the course. Golf has taught me character, honesty, patience, and integrity.
I currently carry a 3.7 GPA as a Junior at a college prep high school, balancing academics and golf. Although I currently play high school basketball in the winter and was an all star baseball pitcher, golf is my passion. My parents have set high expectations for me. My father played college golf, is a physician, and has been my role model. Tagging around with him on the golf course had me interested in golf at a very young age. My mother continues to teach me the value of family, faith, and community. She completely supports my pursuit of golf, but expects academic excellence. I was extremely honored to be named a First Team All State golfer in Michigan, only one of two freshman in Michigan to receive this honor in Division Four. Being that golf is a spring sport in Michigan, I have only completed one season.
My parents have always encouraged me to be an excellent student and remain active in my community. My family has always been important to me. As one son of a set of triplets and a big brother to my little sister, I have been lucky enough to live with three of my best friends. My mom is a saint for dealing with us.
My strength on the golf course has always been my short game. Playing varsity golf as a freshman I was smaller and younger than many of my opponents in statewide tournaments. I have had to be very patient on the golf course and maximize my short game to succeed.
As long as I can remember, I have dreamed of playing college golf. I have been humbled by the sport at times, but continue to improve. I am a leader on my golf team, and I love working with younger golfers and mentoring them. I equally enjoy practicing my game and am on the course everyday that the weather permits. I look forward to playing golf at the highest level possible in college. Playing golf at an elite level is an opportunity I will never take for granted.
Thank you for your consideration.
