About Me
I’m looking for a school and golf program that: Will challenge me academically and prepare me for life after college. I’m looking for a golf program that will compete to win a division and even a national title. I’m also looking for a golf program that will challenge me to get better. I’m also looking for a coach who can provide with direction and tools to improve on the course as well as off.
Golf Achievements: I finished my freshman year at Detroit Catholic Central with a scoring average of 83 while playing in 6 matches and 6 invitationals. I won team spirit award picked by the two coaches for always having a positive attitude. During my summer tournaments I had my two career lows of two under 69 and a 1 over 71. My Scoring average for 11 tournament rounds this summer is 77. As you can see my scoring average has dropped 6 strokes just in three months due to my hard work and dedication to practicing everyday.
Other Achievements: This school year I was on the honor’s society at Detroit Catholic Central finishing with a 4.03 GPA. For the past two years I have also been an assistant coach for a club travel soccer team after playing soccer for 10 years.
Attributes that will make me a good college student-athlete: I am a great team member and know how to be a leader. The past two years of coaching a travel soccer team while focusing on school and golf has taught me how to manage my time. During this time period I have been able to succeed in school as well in golf. I feel my hard work ethic, passion for golf, and succeeding in school will make me a great student athlete.
The strengths of my golf game are: I am a great putter. I use aimpoint to help me read the greens. This has helped me dominate the putting greens. I also have great speed control that helps me limit my three putts to almost none per round. Other than my putting, my irons between 90-160 yards are strong. From this distance I hit a lot of greens in regulation.
The weaknesses of my game are: My scramble percentage. When I look over my round when I haven't played well, I lose strokes around the green. When I miss a green, I struggle sometimes to save par. To improve on this, when I practice daily, I throw nine balls around the green in different spots. I then play each ball as a par two. I repeat this 5-9 times. This helps simulate if I were to hit 9/18 greens in regulation.
I think my golf game will continue to improve because: I know my golf game with improve because of my dedication and hard work. On average, I practice about 8-10 hours a day. Because of this, my scoring average has dropped 7strokes in just three months. As I continue to put this much time into my practice, I know there is no limit to how much I can improve.
