Personal Statement

My goal is to play golf in college at the highest level. I have only been playing golf for 4 years. In those 4 years, I have improved a great amount, and I have developed a love for the game. I am a very hard worker, and I will never give up. Before I played golf, I competed in gymnastics for 9 years. Gymnastics has taught me to be determined, to never give up, and to work as hard as I can in everything that I do. On my high school team, I try my best to be a leader. I try to always encourage my teammates and give them compliments. My good work ethic is demonstrated in my academics. My cumulative GPA is 4.02 and I have received many academic awards. I bring this same great work ethic to the course where I continue to learn how to play great golf.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • GolfWeek Junior Tour
  • 9/05/20 to 9/06/20
  • I shot 74 (+2) the first day and 78 (+6) the second day. I left myself in tough positions the second day, but overall I played well. I came T-13th place out of 61 players.
  • Camp/Event
  • Callaway Meijer Junior Tour
  • 8/22/20 to 8/23/20
  • I shot (-1) 71 the first day. I played great, and I was tied for the lead. The next day, is shot 83. My worst round in months. I needed to stay more focused on my game instead of my opponents. Even though it was not the round that I wanted, I learned a lot, and I can’t wait to be tied for the lead going into the final round again.
  • Camp/Event
  • Callaway Meijer Junior Tour
  • 8/12/20 to 8/13/20
  • I shot 76 the first day on the East course. I made a 9 on the third hole because I was unfamiliar with it. The second day, I shot 74 with no birdies on the West course.
  • Camp/Event
  • AJGA qualifier
  • 8/10/20 to 8/10/20
  • I shot 75 (+3) and I missed the cut by 3 shots. I shot +3 on the front, and I gave myself many birdie looks on the back, but nothing fell. I made two great up and downs on the last two holes to stay at +3 which is what I though the cut-line would be. I am happy with the way that I gave it my best for the entire round.
  • Camp/Event
  • Michigan Junior Amateur Championship
  • 7/27/20 to 7/30/20
  • On the first day we played 36 holes. I shot 74-79 and I placed T-16th out of 82 players. The wind was blowing about 10-15 MPH. I made it to matchplay, but I lost in my first match. It was my first matchplay event, so it was a good learning experience.
  • Camp/Event
  • Callaway Meijer Junior Tour
  • 7/23/20 to 7/24/20
  • I finished well with a 73 (+1). On the first day I had a rough front 9 and shot 42. I stayed patient and shot even par on the back 9. So I ended with a 78 on the first day and a 73 on the second day.
  • Camp/Event
  • Callaway Meijer Junior Tour
  • 7/18/20 to 7/19/20
  • I was tied for the lead after the first day, but we got rained out on the second day and only got to play 4 holes. As a result, I lost in a scorecard playoff, even though I shot even par on the back 9 of the first day. During the first round, the conditions were tough. It was almost 90 degrees and the wind was blowing close to 12-14 MPH. I played well in the conditions, but sadly we weren’t able to finish the second round.
  • Camp/Event
  • Michigan Junior Amateur qualifier
  • 7/08/20 to 7/08/20
  • I shot 73 (+1) to qualify for the Michigan Junior Amateur. I felt that I played well, but I got unlucky on the last hole. On the last hole, the ball hit the cart path and went into the heather. I had to re-tee, so I ended up making a double bogey.
  • Camp/Event
  • Golfweek Junior Tour
  • 6/23/20 to 6/24/20
  • The first day, the wind was blowing at 17 MPH. I played well in the wind and shot even par 72. I was tied for the lead after round 1. On the second day, I got to 2-under on the day, but then I made an 8 and ended up shooting 80 on the day. It was a tough break, and I got unlucky. Even though I did not play the way that I wanted the second day, I learned a lot. I learned how it feels to be in contention at a tournament with a strong field, and I learned that I need to be more patient in certain situations.
  • Camp/Event
  • Callaway Meijer Junior Tour
  • 6/17/20 to 6/18/20
  • This was my best tournament finish so far. I shot 75 both days and I won by 6 shots. After the first day, I was tied for the lead with two other kids. I learned how to manage my emotions and play a good round of golf when I needed to. I started off strong and shot -1 on the front side. I shot 4-over on the back with an 8 on a par 4. That big number just came out of nowhere, but I bounced back with a birdie on the next hole and finished my round strong. I loved the feeling of being in contention to win!
  • Camp/Event
  • 2nd GAM Junior Kickoff
  • 6/15/20 to 6/16/20
  • I played good both days, but I didn’t shoot as low as I know I can. I shot 78 both days. I am getting more comfortable while playing in competitions, and I like the direction that my game is heading. I felt like I left some shots out there, but I had a great short game.
  • Camp/Event
  • Michigan Amateur Qualifier
  • 6/09/20 to 6/09/20
  • I shot 77 (+5). I played decent all day. I made a few mistakes on the front that I should not have. I was 4-over going into the last hole, and I end up making bogey after a great drive. I feel like I managed my nerves well, but I didn’t have the best day. I beat many current college golfers and college golf graduates. Overall, it was a great experience being under pressure trying to qualify for this tournament.
  • Camp/Event
  • Top 50 Junior Tour
  • 6/04/20 to 6/04/20
  • Overall, I played well. I was 3-over going into the 16th hole, and I made a few bad swings and finished the round at 7-over (79). It was not the way that I wanted to finish, but I learned a lot from the experience.
