My goal out of high school is to play competitive golf in college while pursuing a degree in finance. With consistent practice and meeting with my swing coach, I was able to improve my golf game by dropping my average by 10 strokes since the previous year. I am excited for the upcoming golf season where I will be playing in many multiple day tournaments, will continue working with my swing coach, and will strive to lower my average even further.
Sports has always been very important in my life. When I was growing up, golf was a secondary sport to hockey. I started to like it more each year. During freshman year of high school, I made the JV golf team and averaged 92. During that summer I trained harder and played in many tournaments. I started visiting my swing coach at Hazeltine National Golf Course every other week, and golf started to become my top priority. During the off-season, I practiced at indoor facilities and worked with my swing coach. I worked hard before the golf season improving my game as much as I could.
At the start of the sophomore season I was rotating between JV and varsity, but towards the end of the year, I played varsity the remainder of the season. At the end of my sophomore year, I brought my average down 10 strokes to an 82. I played in many tournaments that summer and kept preparing for my junior year. My 18 hole average is 75.4 and my tournament average is 77.5. I want to continue to bring my average down and train even harder to prepare myself for the future. I recently played in an FCWT tournament in Seaside, California at bayonet and black horse golf course. The first day I felt a little uncomfortable. It was my first round in 4 months, shooting an 88. But I came back stronger the second day finishing with a 79. I have learned a lot in golf and learned different life lessons. The biggest key takeaway for me is how you handle yourself when things don't go well. In golf you will not always be perfect, to me it's how you handle yourself when you play bad. Being able to bounce back after a bad hole or round will determine how you handle the ups and downs.
I have a cumulative GPA of 3.44, but have an average of 4.0 in the first two quarters of this year. I am taking college credits in business at a local program called MNCAPS. This program is teaching me different ways to be successful in the business world. During this program we work with different companies to do different tasks. We also have our own mentors and do practice interviews with successful business people. I pay attention in school and I have a great attitude towards my priorities. I work hard to achieve my goals to be successful.
