Jacob Benelli '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jacob Benelli and I am very interested in attending college as both a student and as a member of a golf team in the Fall of 2020. I am currently a senior at Los Alamos High School in New Mexico and I will be graduating in May of 2020. My goal after graduation is to attend a college that offers strong education programs , as well as a competitive golf team that I can contribute to and continue to develop my golf game with.

I have been golfing with my step-dad since I was 10 years old and it is because of him that I have developed such a great passion for the game. Along with teaching me the game of golf, my step-dad taught me honor, integrity, character and sportsmanship, among many other of life’s lessons that can be taught on the golf course.

I started playing golf competitively for the Los Alamos High School Varsity Team when I was in the 8^th grade, serving as Team Captain for the past 3 years. Our team has had much success in the past 4 years under Coach Ainsworth’s direction, winning multiple District Titles and 2 back-to-back NM State Championships in the past 2 years. I am confident that we have a 3^rd State Title waiting for us this year as well!

I am a highly motivated, hardworking, competitive and intelligent golfer. I believe that my strengths as a golfer are my smart course management decision making and my ability to read greens and putt extremely well. The greatest weakness of my golf game  is my driving distance. I believe that I could definitely contribute to the success and camaraderie of a college golf team.
