Swimming and making finals at Sectionals this past summer (2018) opened a door of new possibilities for me. New Mexico (NM) is a small state, so the opportunity to swim with others from around the country is huge. The experience of racing with other high caliber athletes and proving I was a strong competitor was truly amazing.
I am fortunate to swim under great coaches representing both my high school team and my club team. Both teams have placed in the top 3 at their respective State Championship meets. While this year is proving to be my most challenging, I was out of the pool for 6+ weeks after suffering a concussion, being away from swimming made me realize all the more how much I value it in my life. I'm working hard and “smart” at getting back into competition-shape, keeping my long term swimming goals in my sites: HS State Championships, Sectionals, and of course the ultimate of college swimming.
I am looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I am a strong student with future interests in STEM fields. I believe I not only have the swimming talent to compete for a college team, but the work-ethic and leadership skills to contribute and make an impact at the college level.
