Evan Marcus '20 Recruiting Profile

Golf has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember.  However, over the last three years my passion has grown into one of the key motivating factors in my life.  The desire and the drive to want to constantly improve my game and eventually play at a professional level inspires me in every facet of my life.  I have learned that the harder I work the more focus I have and the better I am both on and off the course.  

In the seventh grade I was selected to be on the Varsity Golf team as an alternate, and I have steadily improved to a point where I held the number 3 position on the team as a ninth grader.  My goal is to be the number 1 golfer on the team in tenth grade.  Ultimately, my goal before I graduate High School is to be considered the best golfer in my school district and league, and finish top 20 in the NY All State Tournament.

I believe in setting realistic, but stretch, goals.  I have not only attained my goals year after year but have exceeded them.  My goal as a ninth grader was to shoot consistently in the mid to upper 80’s, and I have exceeded that goal by shooting in the mid to lower 80’s.  In fact, I broke 80 for the first time in the Fall of my ninth grade season which far exceeded my goals.

I consider myself a student of the game and am constantly watching every televised PGA tournament.  I pride myself on knowing the game inside and out.  Even though I never really had the opportunity to watch him play, I respect and honor everything Arnold Palmer did both on and off the course, and hope to emulate his life and legacy.  He is my inspiration!
