Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. I know that college will provide me with the opportunity to further my education, especially in the fields of science and math. I also know I am lucky to come from a good family with caring parents who have helped shape my character into a person who values being humble, realizes the importance of respecting others and works hard even when nobody is watching. These values and many other advantages are gifts in my life for which I am grateful, and know I will be successful as long I follow that example. I have to be honest though, and tell you that the most exciting aspect of furthering my education is that it will allow me to keep playing golf competitively. As a family, we are fortunate enough to be members of the Tuscarora Golf Club in Upstate New York. The best part about this beautiful historic course is that it is only a mile down the road from my house. My dad, who can be a little old-fashioned, told me once while I was waiting for him to finish the lawn that if I was so eager to play golf, I could just ride my bike. So I did. I threw my favorite driver, a couple irons and my putter in a backpack, and at eleven years-old took off down our country road in order to get on the course as soon as possible. I remember that one of the senior members of the club asked me to join him for a couple holes that day. What an honor. He must have appreciated my excitement (or felt badly that I rode my bike) and even bought me a candy bar once we were done. The best part though, was being able to compete with an adult golfer. Since then I have worked at the same golf course. No matter how many clubs I clean or hours I spend washing and parking carts, I will try to finish my day at the driving range or playing as many holes as I am able. And as a high school Junior, I still feel the same way I did at eleven. Whenever, however and with whomever I will play golf.
