Hello Coaches, my name is Blake Furtney. I am in the graduating class of 2025 and attend EL Crossley secondary school.
For the past 3 years it has been my dream and goal to play golf at a college/university level. I fell in love with the sport in my first year on the local tour here in Niagara, I have always been competitive and had a passion to win.
When I first started golfing I had a huge slice but have always been able to hit the ball far. I have worked over winters with my coach to dial my game in and get me being more consistent.
My strengths in my game are hitting the ball far and more recently I have been working on my short game, mostly my putting and have started being more consistent and have been hitting better putts.
My weaknesses in my game have been shaping the ball the way I want. I have went back and forth between a left to right flight and a right to left flight and have found more consistency in the left to right ball flight.
This past winter i worked inside at my local club on simulators to become more consistent, it has showed in my first 2 tournaments this year where I didnt play great but I was able to scramble to shoot decent scores.
