My Name is Will Burleigh and I have completed the 11th grade. I am in the graduating class of 2024 and attend West Niagara Secondary School in Grimsby, Ontario. My goal is to play golf at the college level and I am actively searching for a post secondary school that checks all my boxes. This includes playing competitive golf, and an academic program that fits my interests.
I feel that I would be a good addition to a golf team because of my strong work ethic and leadership. I work hard at my golf game and my academics.
I have competed in many different sports in school and club teams. However, over the last three years my main focus has been golf. I really developed a love for the game after being successful in my first year on a local tour at the age of twelve. I have been fortunate to be a member of the Sawmill Performance Golf Team which has one of the largest junior golf programs in Canada. I have enjoyed coaching as an assistant coach in the Learn to Golf Program as well as being hired as a junior maintenance staff at Sawmill Golf Course. I was proud to represent Sawmill in my competitive seasons. I balanced work, practice and tournament play and competed in club basketball. This past season I learned many important things about what it takes to be successful, but feel that the the most important thing I learned is time management and staying organized.
I am a highly competitive athlete and I have realized in order to maximize my golf potential I need to narrow my focus. I see myself as a leader by making others better around me and see myself as a very responsible and conscientious person. My goals for high school are to maintain my honor roll status and continue to be involved in the school and community. As the most experienced golfer on my school team I am hoping to lead the team to the Provincial Championships. I feel through my experiences and my character that these traits can lead me to a successful college career.
