My name is Blake Stewart. I am currently in 11th grade at Pennridge High School. I was introduced to golf at a young age but never competed competitively until 2 years ago. I made the high school varsity golf team every year throughout my high school life, and was named a captain when I was a Sophomore and I remain as a captain today. I work hard every day to improve my game and maintain a good GPA. My personality is one of my strong suits and a way I separate myself from other kids my age. I am very exuberant and love to venture outside of my comfort zone to learn and progress myself to become a better young man. I am a leader and pride myself in being a good role model on and off the course.
In addition to golf, I have played Ice Hockey since the age of 3 years old. There is nothing I love more than improving myself and being the best I can possibly be. I play golf because you can play it no matter how old you are. I love competition. It does not matter if I'm going into an event in last or in first, I will always give 100% and try to be my best. Something I do well in is that I am very disciplined when it comes to certain points in the round, if I have a bad shot, I don’t dwell over it. I think about how I can recover from the mistakes I made. No matter if I am on the course, on the ice, or in a classroom, I always want to improve myself.
I am an A/B type of student. I have taken a couple of Honor courses so far. I am very interested in and want to study Accounting/Finance in college. I have taken many different business courses so far such as Accounting 1 and 2, Financial Foundations, and Intro to Business. Golf is something I am very happy I have fallen in love with at such a young age. There are many lessons to be taken away from this sport that I will be forever grateful for. Accountability is one of my biggest attributes and it is completely due to golf. In golf, it is you vs you. There is no one to blame for a bad shot or score, and you must live with the choices you make, and that goes the same way I approach life on a daily basis. Trust is another great aspect I have taken away from golf. There will be times where you are playing by yourself or very far away from your opponent looking for your ball. The opportunity to cheat always presents itself, but you must be a strong willed individual and be able to accept what life throws at you and react accordingly. We are never dealt the greatest hands in life, but it is what we make with our hand that will define us for the rest of our life. If you do not make mistakes you will never learn, and if you never learn, you will become complacent and I refuse to become complacent. I am a fighter. I will always be the one who is working harder than anyone else because I have learned at a very young age, nothing is given to you, and you must earn everything you want in life.
