I am an athlete, a student, a Christian, and son/grandson/nephew but not necessarily in that order. I love the game of golf, and my dream is to continue playing competitively throughout college and beyond. I began playing golf for fun with my dad at a very early age. I think I had my first set of clubs at the age of 4, however I didn’t start playing competitively until 2020 at the age of 14. Before then, I was a baseball pitcher and I was pretty good. My Ozone team even made it to the World Series in 2018! When COVID came along in 2020 closing schools and stopping all school sports, I focused my attention on golf. I love sports way too much to not play one. My family had a membership at Hartsville Country Club and I started going almost every day when I finished my school work. I realized then that I had talent on the course, and I really enjoyed it. My personality is somewhat reserved and golf was a perfect match for me. In the summer of 2020, I joined the South Carolina Junior Golf Association and began playing in their Monday tournament series. I shot a 78 in my first ever tournament, which was also my best round yet at the time. I went on to do well that summer finishing in 2nd place in my age group for the Florence region and going on to the state All-Stars. I actually played Junior Legion baseball that summer as well and sometimes would leave a golf tournament to head straight to a baseball game. I am thankful that my parents supported me in traveling and playing that summer. Going into my 9th grade year, I decided to focus on golf only. I made the Varsity Golf Team and held the #1 spot on my team. I made All-Region team that year, finishing in 2nd place in Regions VI AAAA regional tournament. I will always love baseball and still spend time on the field with friends hitting and pitching. I have continued to play with SCJGA and on my school team. I was able to qualify for some of the bigger tournaments this past summer and have enjoyed learning from other golfers who have more experience than I do. I started working at my home course when I turned 15 and still work there part-time. I clean golf carts and help with range balls. I have learned so much from our members and our golf pro who also gives me lessons. I am able to work, play golf almost every day, and maintain an above average GPA with honors and AP classes. I am also very active in my church youth group and attend mission trips every summer. I really want to be able to help my parents with the burden of college costs, so I will work very hard in high school to maintain and even improve my GPA so that I will be an asset to my future college and golf team. Playing is very important to me and I want to be on a team where I get the opportunity to play. I do prefer a smaller school, but am open to larger schools if they are a good academic and athletic fit.
