My name is Simon Wright. I competed in competitive swimming from 4 yrs old to 14 yrs old. I decided during my 8th grade swim season that I wanted to really give golf a shot. So, two and a half years ago, I joined my high school golf team that Spring. I feel that swimming helped me to prepare for golf. I learned self-motivation, dedication and a work ethic. My work ethic has really brought me a long ways in a short amount of time. Since I joined the sport of golf in my teens, I had a lot of work to do to catch up with all the other golfers. So, I decided to work on my weak parts of my game and it has really improved my scoring average. I usually spend 3-4 days a week on drills and 2-3 days a week playing rounds of golf. My first tournament 2.5 years ago, I shot a 100. However, just last week, I won a SCJGA tournament, with 70 other golfers participating, with a score of a 71. So, I feel that my hard work has really paid off. The biggest difference for me is that I love the game of golf and many lessons are learned by playing it.
