Personal Statement

Challenges are opportunities to learn, grow and succeed. I’ve learned that life and golf are filled with them. My younger brother has severe heart issues (four open-heart surgeries, and 2 near death experiences). His faith and courage inspire me. He has taught me to never give up, be resilient, patient, take time to live my life to the fullest, and to trust God. Challenges provide opportunities to learn, and they make me a stronger person. Last Fall I had a very bad case of mono and an aggressive growth spurt. Both of these issues challenged me to manage my schedule so that I could heal, play golf and basketball, all while prioritizing my academics. Now I literally stand above the crowd, and I’m adjusting to my height. Golf is what I truly enjoy and excel at. Just like life, it is filled with frustrations, obstacles and triumph. Whatever the hindrance, I can overcome it.

  • This was my 1st tournament back after several months and I was playing with my new clubs that had just arrived two weeks ago. This was a new course for me, and due to poor weather conditions my practice round was cut short. Day 1 was challenging because I was learning the course, I came back strong on day 2. I'm proud of my recovery and am ready to get back to tournament play. I finished in the top 10 for the tournament. Scores: 84 and 72 Rounds 1 and 2: Yardage: 6664 Rating: 73.3

  • Camp/Event
  • 2019 Optimist International Tournament of Champions
  • 11/09/19 to 11/10/19
  • I'm most proud of this event not because of my scores but that I played and made it through both days despite being very sick. I was diagnosed a week later with a severe case of mono. All things considered the 86 and 89 could have been worse. https://www.optimist.org/golf/golf-toc-scores-2019.cfm
