I have been playing the sport of golf since I was five years old. Ever since my grandpa and dad first put a club in my hand, an aspiration and fire to continuously get better at the game ignited in me. I have always enjoyed practicing and striving to become the best golfer and person that I can be. Growing up, I played many sports including basketball, baseball, and flag football, all of which contributed to my athleticism and taught me many valuable lessons. Although I enjoyed playing those sports, my passion for them was never as great as it was for golf. It didn't matter whether it was rain or shine, I was always outside either hitting wedge shots in my backyard, putting inside on the carpet, or practicing at the course. Many people in my family have played or are still playing collegiate sports including my dad, sister, grandpa, and second cousins. That being said, the lessons of commitment and grit have been instilled into me from a young age. I've been playing junior golf tournaments since I was 9 years old and have played in high school varsity tournaments since I was a freshman. During my freshman season, my team won districts, placed fourth in regionals, and then qualified for state. Individually, I won the Birdville Invitational with a 72 and placed inside the top five in others as well. The best parts of my game are my driving and ability to hit different shots around the green. I strive to become more consistent with my game and iron play in the coming years as well. Because I grew up in Washington state, but now live in Texas, I've learned how to deal with pretty much every golfing weather condition available. From the rainy, cold atmosphere of the northwest, to the windy, dry, hot summers of Texas, I know how to adapt to very diverse conditions.
Throughout my entire life, I have felt the desire to be a leader and want to be able to grow those skills through a college golf program. Teamwork is one of my best attributes and I believe that I could aid any program I'm a part of. For as long as I can remember, I have always had the goal of playing golf collegiately. That hope for the future has given me the drive to train hard to achieve my goal. Apart from just athletics, I deeply value being able to do well in the classroom. My parents have always stressed that receiving a good education is essential, and I've tried to continue that through all of the academic levels I've been a part of. My current high school GPA is 4.14 on a 4.0 scale and I hope to raise that even higher. I'm also in honors and college-level classes that my school offers which challenge me in the classroom. With that, I'm also a part of the National Honors Society which has me volunteering and doing community service.
I have many goals and aspirations, but my ultimate future is in the hands of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is my foundation and my rock and I wouldn't be able to live life to the fullest without Him. I greatly value my faith and ultimately want to glorify God with everything I do. I feel that He has been calling me to collegiate golf to serve Him and spread His Word. I know that I can live with the certainty that His will, will be done in my life and He will use my talents for His greater good. Currently, I'm very involved with the youth group at my church where I have a very strong community of believers. They have inspired me to try and better myself every day.
With everything said, I look forward to becoming a part of a solid golf program.
