I have been playing golf since I was four. When I turned five, I started golf instruction through The First Tee of the Piney Woods in Longview, Texas. The First Tee program and core values have been important to my development not just as a golfer, but as a person. I believe that these core values (including honesty, sportsmanship, perseverance, and integrity) help to make me a good candidate for any team, and a better teammate and person in general. I have been playing golf competitively since 6th grade through both The First Tee and The Front 9 Tour. Playing golf at the collegiate level has been a dream of mine since I saw Jordan Spieth play at the Byron Nelson his senior year of high school. Even though I did not think I would have the chance to play golf beyond the high school level since I attend a small, rural school, I am not ready to give up on my dream. I am a hard worker and always strive to be the best teammate I can be. I love playing golf and just being out on the golf course improving my game. I would love to continue playing golf at the collegiate level, and I would like to start mentoring other young golfers through a program such as The First Tee to encourage them to develop not just their golf skills, but a love of the sport as well.
My academic goals for college include eventually receiving my Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Marine Biology. I hope to gain research experience in the field and then use this experience to work in a large aquarium or other facility focused on the conservation of marine species such as sea turtles, sharks, and rays.
