I have aspirations of playing DIII Hockey at college or a university that will allow me to pursue my college degree. Getting a degree in college will afford me great things in life. I think playing college while getting that degree will be icing on the cake!
I have been playing hockey since I was 3 years old and love the game. I am a 10 month per year hockey player. I play for Newtown High School in the normal winter season and start as a Defenseman. I then play midget hockey for the Ice Hawks where I rotate starting at Defense. I am currently on the starting power play and penalty kill lines for both teams. I have 14 assists and 2 goals this season. I am a protector of our net and play a very physical style of hockey. My biggest challenge that I spend a lot of time working on is my explosive speed. I have gained some speed in the last year and expect my efforts to pay of in my senior year where I will be in the top 2 on my high school team.
I am a leader off and on the ice. I was taught to encourage others and treat them how you want to be treated. I constantly give out praise and point out opportunities for our players. My coach has seen this and turns to me to provide that extra boost when it is needed in the locker room or on the ice.
I know I am not the smartest kid in school, but my dedication to my studies has earned me high honors roll every semester in high school. I know I can take my habits that I have learned and apply them in college which will afford me further opportunities in life.
