I am going to college for the opportunity to get an education and to earn a degree, which will prepare me for the future. I am looking for a college that has a combination of a respected hockey program and a quality curriculum that meets my area of interests.
I've been a hockey player for 12 years and have played at the highest level (AAA tier 1) for 7 years in the HPHL hockey league (our team schedules have been rated in the top toughest in the nation). Through those years my focus and purpose was to prepare myself to play college hockey. I've learned that I am on a personal journey that requires me to get better every year. In order for me to compete at the college level I will need to; balance my life between my studies and my sport, give my best compete level in practices and games and to follow the guidance from my coach to be the best that I can be.
So far, on all the teams I've played on, I have been considered a team leader because I lead by example and I set the tone in practices and games with my compete level. I treat my fellow teammates with respect and I try to do all I can to assist and support them on and off the ice, so we all can be successful together.
I am a right defenseman, but I can play either right or left sides. I am a versatile player because I am strong enough to play a physical style and mobile enough to play an offensive style, but my biggest strength is my ability to see the ice and read plays. My coaches have put a lot of trust in me by allowing me to play in critical game situations because they tell me I have a high hockey IQ, I'm dependable and have good decision making abilities.
