Shannon Walsh '23 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing soccer for the past 10 years and have developed a strong passion for the game. My objective is to play competitive college soccer and be a strong contribution to the team. I am ready to work hard both athletically and academically. I have the determination and strength of character to be a positive attribute to the team.  Playing soccer for many years has given me many opportunities and lessons that have shaped me into the person I am today.

Currently, I am on the FC United Pre Academy 2003 Team. I was on FC-1 Academy Soccer Team from 2019-2021. My team won the Illinois Presidents Cup in 2019 and 2021. I was named MVP for Green and White Soccer Club in 2017 and 2018. While playing for Green and White Soccer Club, I had experience playing in Germany and Czech Republic in 2018.  When I played for the Green and White International Experience Team I was Co-Captain.  

Aside from soccer, I have been playing basketball for ten years. I have won back to back championships with my grade school in 2018 and 2019. Also, in junior high I was All-State and medaled 18th place for cross country and 6th place in the 1600 M for track and field.  As a freshman in highschool, I was All-Conference and ran varsity for my school's cross country team. 

Academically, I have always been very determined in the classroom to earn good grades. I was on the Honor Roll throughout junior high. In 8th grade, I received awards in Math, Social Studies, Science, Spanish, Music, and Physical Education. Also, I received the American Legion Award for Academic Excellence.  Last year in highschool I made the Academic Honor Roll. 

My character and leadership have always been important to me on and off the soccer field. Currently, I am involved with Social Science Honors Society, Link Crew and Junior Leaders at Maine West High School. Also, I have been a part of NJHS and Student Council. In addition, I was given the Catholic Youth Award.
