Personal Statement

Hi my name is Ryan Melanson and I am from Leominster, MA. I am 17 years old and currently attend Saint Johns High school. I have been playing varsity ice hockey since 8th grade, and have started for the varsity team since sophomore year as well as multiple club teams including the New England Stars and  Mass Avalanche. I take my academics very seriously and have a good school and athletic balance. I have also been able to maintain a job at a restaurant a couple times a week, as well as maintain my school work and hockey schedule. I am a leader both on and off the ice, I participated in the best buddies program through my  old school where I help with disabled kids and help them in the classroom. My goal throughout college is to continue my ice hockey career and to further my opportunity's competitively on the ice. One day I dream of becoming a sports manager for a professional team and if I am given the opportunity to play at the college level this will not only show me what its like to possibly have a job in this environment one day, but also lead me to new opportunities. I am a good candidate for your team because I bring 110% to every practice and every game. I am not a goalie to give up if the team if having a bad game or is losing by a lot, I am always trying my best to support and help my team in any way I can. I have attended multiple "stop it" programs through New England Sports center  in Malbrough, MA and have also attended other programs to help better my self in the goalie position. I am whiling to put forth my best efforts to any team I join and I know I can make a difference in any team both on and off the ice.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
