Derek Berning 201...Personal Statement
My name is Derek Berning, I have played hockey since I was 6. I am a leader on and off the ice. I am easily coach-able and have the utmost respect for my coaches.
College Hockey has been my goal since I was in squirts. I am so excited to start setting goals and achieving them. Currently my team is ranked number 8 in Minnesota state class A. In the fall of 2015 I played in the MN elite prep development league (tier 1) and was was selected to go to the NAHL future prospects tournament in October.
I work hard on and off the ice. I work as a CNA at an assisted living facility, and would like to go into Nursing. I spend lots of time shooting pucks, stick handling and working out. Academically I am doing very well, increasing my GPA significantly. I scored very high on the accuplacer test and I took post secondary classes my junior and senior year. I graduate in 2017.

- We won districts, 2nd in region, and went to the state tournament. I was in the top three scorers on district level play. I was the leading scorer for 99's in district 15 and for the AAHA Bantam A team. I scored the game winning goal in our final regional game to send us to the state tournament . I scored 38 goals, 24 assists for a total of 62 points for the 2013-14 season.
