William DiStefano '21 Recruiting Profile

What sets me apart from other student athletes is my strong willpower, I am the type to never give up even if things are somewhat beyond my reach.  When I get  onto the ice, the defensive zone is the most essential part of my work, however, as a defenseman, you still have to ensure that you keep an eye on the offensive side continuing the play, keeping the puck in the zone,  getting the puck to the net, and  joining  the rush to give my team a better scoring chance. I also try to be the best leader that I can be on and off the ice,  pushing my teammates to play their best and helping others in improving their skills whenever they need the support. I know that my passion and my supportive drive make me a  strong candidate for many programs because I value my role as a team player.  Since we were not allowed to play due to the pandemic, I continued a conditioning regiment that I set up to keep myself in shape off the ice. Once we were given the capability to return to the ice, there was no doubt that I was ready to return, supporting all of my teammates. 

My strong work ethic in various situations shows that I am able to be flexible in many instances for example when COVID 19 forced us to attend school remotely, I did not let that get in the way of my studies. I continued to work to the best of my ability to achieve success in class. This work ethic that was instilled in me, allowed me to continue to keep up with all the demands of the work in each of my classes. My GPA shows that I have put forth the time and effort to keep my grades up.
