Michael Tompkins '25 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing hockey ever since the age of 6. From the time I stepped on the ice, I fell in love with it. I am ready to take the sport I love to the next level.

I am very ambitious. I always want to get better and better on the ice, trying to reach my full potential. I am a coachable kid and always willing to try a new type of strategy or play or change positions on the ice. I am not a sore loser and am well-disciplined on the ice. These traits are not only visible on the ice but in the classroom as well. I can maintain excellent grades, some of which are in classes where I have kids a year older than me.

My on-ice gameplay is what grabs people's attention. I am a physical player who likes to use the body and has a great, hard shot. I have good skating skills that I can still improve on. I can move the puck well and know where to put the puck to create scoring chances. I enjoy using my body to drive wide around opponents and crash the front of the net, creating scoring opportunities for my team. I also have a good screen in front of the net. I am not afraid to get hit with a shot by my defensemen. When it comes to defense, I play positionally well. When the puck gets to the point, I don't hesitate to block the shot, if not make a solid attempt to.

I am willing to play college hockey and face a level that may be my most difficult challenge yet. For College, I want to play on a very competitive team at my level of play. I love playing the game of hockey, and I want to continue doing this sport for the rest of my life.
