Zachary Burleigh '23 Recruiting Profile

My strongest attribute is my compete level. During a game or practice or even a fun game I do everything I can to win, I never give up on a play and hate being scored on even in practice.  This applies to my academics as well.  I currently have a 87.75% average and has been a point of pride for me,   but I want to see the mid 90's  because once you reach a goal you have to set a new one,  this applies to all facets of life, it's a competition.  

as an athlete;

 I am a positionally sound goalie that has great range and athleticism.  I feel my true strength is in my ability to read the play and react quickly.  I pride myself in my mental toughness as well as,  my ability to steal a game for my teammates and keep them in most games. 

I am currently playing Jr.B hockey in the GOJHL and living with a billet family in Stratford.  On the season I went  15 -3 , with a 2.01 GAA and .914 save % in the playoffs went 4-0 with at 1.87 GAA with a .920 save %,  before rolling my ankle.   I'm loving the team and organization. 

Last year I played for the Huron Perth Lakers u18 AAA team and we have put together a great season finishing tied for first.  I personally reached two of  the goals I have set for myself last year, being named to the league all star team and finishing in the top 2 in GAA for the league. While playing more games than any other goalie.  Recently reached goal number 3 of winning the Alliance hockey Championship. Playing all 8 playoff  games. In 3 series.  Going 6-2  with a GAA of 1.00 with 2 shutouts in series clinching games.  

  What teams will get at the next level is a goalie who is a great partner, one who understands while it is a competition for playing time, I am supportive of my goalie partner and whole team. but the drive to be the best goalie is my focus, not just on my team but in any league I play in. I have never been out worked by anyone on my team and I take that work ethic into my off season training and sports as well.
