Dear Coaches,
When I was 12 years old and playing as a defenseman at the Peewee A level, I was fortunate enough to have coaches who were previous and current D1 hockey players as well as a D1 assistant coach who instructed our games and practices. I was able to relate to their work ethic and enthusiasm for hockey. My love for the game is something I want to continue as I grow and pursue my dream to receive a college degree.
For the 2020-21 season, I will be playing for Sioux Falls Power 15u. I feel that playing AAA hockey has prepared me to balance the workload of academics with practice, games, and travel. I received a 3.92 GPA this past school year while attending 9th grade at Papillion-La Vista High School. This proves that I am capable of managing my time and priorities. I have been told by teachers and coaches that they appreciate my organization, determination, and reliability in reaching goals.
When I am on the ice, I show respect to my coaches, teammates, opponents, and referees. I make every effort to be a leader for my team and if I can encourage my teammates to move forward together, then success will take care of itself. Even after losing a game, I also have to remind myself of that.
I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to explore a kinesiology major that will position me well for a future in sports medicine. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my college hockey career, I will strive to be an asset to the defensive lines, power plays, and penalty kills. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects my team, my coaches and the school I attend.
