As a student and player, I strive to be the best teammate and classmate to all my peers. I work hard in all aspects of my academics and always try to push myself by taking AP classes and learning new subjects, like taking Mandarin. I'm looking forward to attending college and finding the right atmosphere to play hockey.
I've played on several ice hockey teams in the U.S., Denmark and Sweden. I started playing in NJ with the Colonials but when I was 8 we moved to Denmark. I joined the local team, Gentofte Stars and it was quite competitive playing mostly in Sweden tournaments. Eventually I moved to an even more competitive environment with a Swedish team, Limhamn Hockey and played there for 4 years. Their focus was on skating and passing. Learning to play again in the states when we moved to Northern Virginia was a little different - different style, rink size and coaching. I play for the Ashburn Extreme and I thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and my teammates. We work hard and play hard. This year it's a little different with many players having graduated but this new team has a great work ethic and I think it will be a good year.
On the ice, I listen and I am very coachable. After living abroad for most of my life, I have learned to get along with anyone and everyone. My ability to understand most people allows me to get along with any of my future teammates or classmates and adapt to new environments. I think this would prove beneficial to a college team because I am used to accepting people from different backgrounds and adapting to different coaching styles.
