Personal Statement

I have been playing hockey since I was 2 years old and being on the ice is where I am happiest.  I push myself on and off the ice. I am coachable and always willing to make sacrifices for my team. As a flexible player, I am able to play different positions; from left wing, to center, and defense. However, offense suits me best as I am able to take the puck quickly down the ice.  While having a good perspective of the ice, I can bring a fast, aggressive game to any team.

Along with playing hockey, my experiences with sports has also included soccer.  I am a strong defensive player who can be relied on by my teammates and coach.  I continue to strive to be an outstanding athlete and push myself to my limits every day.  I aspire to give 100% every time I show up, and because of that I improve every day.

I would like to play at the highest level possible.  My goal is to continue playing hockey while in pursuing a college degree in Criminal Justice.  I prefer to attend a college in the Mid-West region, but am open to other options.

To date, I have played with several high-level teams including; AAA Jr. Admirals, AAA spring teams for 7 years, Bantam 3A State Champion 2017 , WEHL (Wisconsin Elite Hockey League) Champion 2016, Kohlman Cup Champion 2014, and will soon be going to play junior hockey after 3 years of playing highschool.

As a hard working student athlete, I push myself to work every day to achieve my goals and not have them handed to me by anybody. I will not give up until I have achieved my goals playing hockey at the collegiate level.

Thank you for your time, I greatly appreciate it.

Riley VanderHoeven

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
