My name is Riley Bullock. I am a 6’, 130 junior at Wilmington Christian School(WCS). I am a student first, and an athlete second. I have been at WCS since 6th grade. I have been a strong student in the classroom. In middle school I got A’s. Currently, I get A’s with the occasional B+ and have had a 4.0+ weighted GPA throughout High School. Academics come easy to me. I am in honors classes at WCS but I am also dual enrolled at Delaware County Community College. I am looking to graduate High School with about 30-36 college credits.
Before I started playing lacrosse, I played basketball. I have been playing basketball for my school from 6th grade to present. I started playing lacrosse for my school in 7th grade. I started off playing whatever field position my coach needed me at because we already had a goalie. However, this goalie was in 8th grade, so the next year, when I returned to play for the team we didn’t have anyone who specifically played goalie. My coach decided to do a raffle to who would be the goalies for the game (1/half) if no one volunteered. For our third game, it was my turn to play goalie and in the second half I went in and it felt natural. I made saves, calls, and clears. When I made my first body save, it didn’t hurt as bad as I thought it would, so the fear of being a goalie started to leave. After that, I would volunteer to be the goalie for the rest of the games for the full game, on occasion only playing one half just to take a break. My freshman year, I was the backup goalie to our senior starter. About halfway through the year he got a slight knee injury and would play the first quarter and then I would go in and finish the game. Sadly, due to the pandemic I was unable to have a sophomore season with my school, but that didn’t stop me from playing. I would go to a friend’s house and have him shoot on me just so I could stay active. Then, in the summer I joined a club team and started playing, and I stayed with that club in the fall. I played some pretty tough teams, but I held my own. With this club I learned the value of competition, and have a love for it.
I am also an active member in my community. I am a Boy Scout, and I got my Eagle in October. Through Boy Scouts, I volunteer in the community, and help cleanup roadsides. I also go to Good News Church. I run the sound board, which controls the praise team and pastor’s mics.
