Personal Statement

My name is Richie Fedele, I am a rising Junior (C/O 2023) at Bedford High School in Bedford, MA.  I work hard and enjoy being a successful student-athlete with a full-time job and giving back to my family and community regularly.  Please read on to see a few sentences about my academics, athletics, employment and community service.

Stats: GPA 4.3- 5'10" 185lbs -  LEAGUE ALL-STAR, 4.7 on the 40 yard dash - Bench 250lbs - Squat 405lbs - Deadlift 535lbs

Academics: I am in all Honors classes with a 4.3 GPA and have earned First Honors every semester for the past 5 years. I am in the National Honor Society and proud of my schoolwork and I hope to attend a strong academic school majoring in Engineering and Business.  At school, work and home, I enjoy building, inventing and creating new ideas to solve problems.  I am excited to attend a school where I can be part of a community to study hard at subjects I enjoy and ultimately move into an impactful successful career that I enjoy and can provide an income for a great adult life.

Athletics: I am a hard working athlete, sports are a VERY important part of who I am. I have been a 3 sport athlete for the past 6 years playing football, basketball and lacrosse. I have played Town, School, Club and AAU basketball year-round for 4 years until High School where I dropped AAU basketball and focused on lifting and skills work for football and lacrosse.  There is no off-season, I work hard, I have fun and I am proud of myself.  Here are a few accomplishments that I am most proud of:

Lacrosse - 6 years experience - Earned Coaches award for leadership, work ethic and commitment to the sport.  Voted Captain as a Junior and Senior, Earned DCL All-Star as a Junior and Sophomore, Starting Varsity as a Freshman. Captain of Youth Lacrosse team, undefeated in multiple tournaments in Middle School.   Perfect attendance award. HGR Club Lacrosse. Coaches comments: Leader, High Lacrosse IQ, Strong, Fast, Reliable, Coachable, Work Rate, can play multiple positions.

Football - 10 years experience - DCL ALL-Star as a Junior, Starting O, D and ST as a Sophomore.  Earned 1 of 2 Coaches Award as a Freshman.  Captain and All-Star of Middle School team.  Perfect attendance award. Coaches comments - Leader, High football IQ, Strong, Fast, Reliable, Coachable, Work Rate, can play multiple positions.

Basketball - 10 years experience - D2 State Championship team/AAU Elite team.  Coaches comments - Leader, High basketball IQ, Strong, Fast, Reliable, Coachable, Work Rate, can play multiple positions.

Employment: I am also very proud of my work ethic, I have been working since I was 10 years old for my father's tree service.  I started out cutting firewood and dragging brush at tree jobs and through the years took on more responsibility now small jobs totally on my own and mostly running the firewood part of the business myself.  In addition to that, the last two Summers. I have worked for a landscaping company building patios and mowed lawns with my own side business.  I had steady weekly residential customers and scheduled, communicated, worked and invoiced them myself.  This past Summer, I changed gears and worked for an electrician to continue to learn every trade I can.  I have also shoveled snow for the past few Winters and this Winter, since I have my license, I will be plowing as well.  My most proud accomplishment is I saved $10,000 and bought my own truck.

Community Service: Since I was little, I have been involved in a variety of volunteer activities. I volunteer at our local Veteran Hospital bringing some of the Veterans to Mass on Sundays. I volunteer for the Red Cross at blood drives. I collect school supplies and fill backpacks for homeless college students. My most fun way to help is rescuing dogs from St. Thomas after the hurricanes and helping transport them to New England to be placed in new homes.  Family and Community are a very big part of who I am.

In conclusion, I am excited to find the best fit school, program and team for me where I can continue to be impactful as a student-athlete and member of my college family.  Work hard and play hard, it makes me who I am.

Thank you for reading my personal statement!
