My name is Shayla Fedele, I am a rising Senior at Bedford High School in Bedford, MA. I am in all Honors classes with a 3.1 GPA and every semester since Freshman year, I have taken more challenging courses and continue to make honor roll. I am proud of my schoolwork and even more proud of being a well-rounded student-athlete and giving back to my community.
Since I was little, I have been involved in a variety of volunteer activities. I volunteer at our local Veteran Hospital bringing some of the Veterans to Mass on Sundays. I volunteer for the Red Cross at blood drives. I collect school supplies and fill backpacks for homeless college students. My most fun way to help is rescuing dogs from St. Thomas after the hurricanes and helping transport them to New England to be placed in furever homes.
I am a hard working athlete, sports are a VERY important part of who I am. I have been playing both soccer and basketball for the last 10 years and BOTH club soccer and AAU basketball year-round for the last 6 years. There is no off-season, I work hard, I have fun and I am proud of my self. My weekdays are full of trainings, games, team building, my weekends are busy between tournaments, often 2 states away between both sports. Eating meals in the car, doing homework in parking lots, always having every cleat, sneaker, uniform and waters, lots of waters in my car is my normal life.
Over the past year, college coaches at ID camps have said these things about me:
"Moves the ball well and moves off the ball well"
"Very coachable"
"Versatile player"
"Strong with the ball"
"Can see the court better than most"
"Has a high basketball IQ"
"Solid on D"
"Reliable"
"Fast on the outlet, head's up player"
I think my teammates and friends would say:
I lead the team cheer and most games I lose my voice the next day. I like to organize team dinners and make plans to wear team colors to school, I play the music on the bus and make my team's videos. I bring the energy, in a good way I think.
In conclusion, I am excited to find the best fit school, program and team for me where I can be continue to be impactful as a student-athlete and member of my college family. Work hard and play hard, it makes me who I am.
Thank you!
