My name is Ben Melgaard and I am a 16-year-old junior at Boonton High School in New Jersey. I started varsity the last two years, playing LSM. My strengths as a lacrosse player are, I am very aggressive defensively and I enjoy pushing the ball offensively. I feel that I excel in the transition game.
My goal is to play lacrosse in college. I want to go to a smaller, more rural school that is a good educational fit for me has a campus that is welcoming and has a great lacrosse program. I am interested in pursuing an education in business and technology. I try to be the best person I can be both on the field and in the classroom. I help out in my community by going to the local food bank and I have also helped my youth coach teach basic lacrosse skills to 2nd and 3rd graders. This year I also helped coach our town 6th-7th-grade youth team.
During the winter I play basketball to help keep me in shape. I started every JV game this past winter. Basketball also helps me with my positioning in lacrosse.
Finally, I enjoy hanging out with my family. Last summer was especially hard because of my cousin Max, who was diagnosed with cancer at nine months old, passed away on August 11, 2017. Max has had a big influence on my life.
