My name is Ryan Durnin, and I am a rising senior at Massapequa High School. As a sophomore, I was part of the New York State Championship Class A Lacrosse Team. I currently play basketball and lacrosse on the varsity level. I started playing lacrosse in third grade and immediately fell in love with the game. As a mid-fielder, I always excelled on the defensive side of the field. It was my job to shut down the opposing team's top players, get ground balls, and clear the ball.
On the day of tryouts of my sophomore year, I decided to pick up a long pole. I knew this would be an opportunity for me to take my game to the next level. I immediately fell in love with both defense and LSM positions. My love for the game of lacrosse continues to grow each day. My high school team practices four times a week during the off-season and my club team practices year-round as well. I lift weights and have speed and agility training five times a week year-round.
After summer morning training, I spend the day working as a lifeguard for the Town of Oyster Bay. I am required to work eight hours a day, five days a week. My goal is to play lacrosse at the collegiate level. I am confident with my hard work and dedication I will be successful at any level!
My parents are both teachers. I am interested in studying special education in college.
