As a sophomore, my school began to search for a goalie for the lacrosse team. I wanted to try something new, a challenge, so I stepped up to the challenge. Luckily, I am a quick learner and picked up on the technicalities of the game. During training, my coaches found my easy going personality and coachability beneficial towards me becoming a stronger athlete and better goalie. Everyday I strive to make myself a better player and teammate.
I have joined outside school leagues to keep me training for the winter until the end of summer for lacrosse; keeping me in top condition and improving my skills. In addition, I have been on the football team at my school since my freshman year, first on the junior varsity and now on varsity since the end of my sophomore year. Keeping myself active as a multi-sport athlete lets me be in the best physical condition. Lacrosse has brought out my passion and ambition to achieve; not only in improving myself as a player, but improving myself as a person. I know as a student athlete I need to strive to succeed in every aspect of my life. It is a priority for me to be a successful student academically, which is why I have pushed myself to improve my grades. Balancing my schedule of school, practice, a relationship, other extra activities as a leader in my church youth group as well as obligations at home has made me mature and become more aware of my responsibilities.
Being well rounded doesn't only make me a strong player, but a strong leader. I was elected as a captain of my JV football team and now I am currently the captain of my varsity lacrosse team. Being a captain is a privilege I do not take for granted. I listen to my teammates and work collaboratively to come up with better strategies but, also make quick decisions in the heat of the game.
In college, I believe I will bring a strong skill set to the table. My quick wit, strong ambition and good leadership will make me a great candidate for your team. My solid academic standing and prioritized morals are also something integral to me being a strong team player. Everything is achievable if you try your hardest! I know that my future career in both my athletic and academic paths will be a success.
