On the field and off, I am a team player. I enjoy the team spirit and camaraderie of playing and I’m hoping to continue that in college. Though I haven’t played on a club team, I do take private lessons through Harvest Lacrosse, Nazareth College summer lacrosse camp and the Junior Knighthawks in the offseason and participate in our school’s indoor team through the fall and winter.
In addition to playing lacrosse, I love the outdoors. I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and snowmobiling. I am a boy scout working toward the rank of eagle scout and expect to complete all of my requirements by the end of 2018. These other activities are not directly related to lacrosse, but do keep my physically active and have taught me a lot about leadership and being part of many different types of teams.
This past year I started working a new job as a counselor for after school care within our district during the school year and this summer began my third year of refereeing youth soccer. Both of these jobs have taught me responsibility and patience. These jobs have also taught me how to lead and interact with players, coaches and parents in a respectful way even when there are disagreements.
I think that all of these activities combine to make me a pretty well-rounded person. I really enjoy playing lacrosse, but I am looking for a college experience where I can continue to do many of the things I enjoy.
I’m looking at schools that offer Criminal Justice as a major, and hope to find an applied technology school which is important to me for academics. As an aspiring college athlete, I am looking to find a place where I can succeed both athletically and academically. From an academic standpoint, I’m a solid honor roll student with a 3.5 GPA and have taken both my SAT’s and ACT’s in my Junior year and plan to take them again this fall.
