According to Statista.com, in 2001 only about 253,931 people played lacrosse in the United States. Over the following 17 years, lacrosse increased substantially to 829,423 people playing in 2018. Eight teams with 25 players each in the PLL amounts to a total of 200 players. That gives all 830,000+ kids a 0.0002 percent chance of making it pro. So the big question is, "Why does anybody play?" The answer to that question is that there is no other feeling in the world than sitting in the locker room with your buddies right before a game, ready to have the time of your life on that field. Getting to play under the lights with your entire school watching you, getting your name announced on the starting roster as you run on the field with the team getting hyped up and ready to win is an experience like no other. Now the question seems to be, "why would anyone want to stop?" This is why taking the short four years of high school lacrosse and bringing it to the college level has become my number one aspiration in these coming years.
