Personally, I believe that I am a hard working lacrosse player and pride my self on being positive on and off the field. I am also a junior captain and before me, there has never been a junior captain.
Statement from high school coach Cody Triolo(Lehigh lacrosse class of 2017):
Gavin is an absolute competitor and natural born leader. I have had the pleasure of coaching Gavin for 3 years at Saint Thomas, and his development as a leader and a dominant close defender has been incredible. From a leadership standpoint, Gavin leads both by example in his dedication to his training and work ethic, and also vocally through his communication to the team during times of adversity. Our team faced a lot of adversity being a "growing" program with a lot of younger players still developing, and the coaching staff leaned on him to continue pushing the younger guys and keeping the team on track when adversity was high .He has done such a great job as a team leader that he was named the first Junior Captain in Saint Thomas lacrosse program history. From a play perspective, Gavin has the aggression and ability to create turnovers and get the ball to our offense through his stickwork, footwork, and Lacrosse IQ. He creates a lot of chaos for opposing teams' offense given his IQ and determining when a good time to double is. He is one of the quarterbacks of our defense, and is really the "glue" communicating what other players should be doing on and off-ball. A lot of the time, we leaned on him as a one man clear, and he was always up to the task. Gavin is an incredible leader and player, and any program would be lucky to have him.
