My name is Bryce VanHemelryk and I am from Green Bay, Wisconsin. I will be graduating in 2020 from Bay Port High School. My primary position is attack but I have also played mid field.
I started playing lacrosse in eighth grade and instantly fell in love with it. My goal freshman year was to make the varsity roaster on a tough line up of mostly senior's and junior's. After an offseason of work I was able to be one of just three freshman to make the roaster. Having only 8 goals and 5 assists I set high standards for my sophomore season. I was challenged with making the transition from midfield to attack and finished my sophomore year with 23 goals and 16 assists. I was awarded honorable mention and received the team's Most Improved Player award. I work very hard during the season and just as hard during the offseason, I am attached to the weight room and constantly strive to improve myself in any way possible. During the offseason my teammates and I have morning practice's before school on Tuesday's and Thursday's. I also have morning speed development on Monday's and Wednesday's and catching for football on Friday mornings. I believe that this is a good representation of my work ethic. Even though I have a very busy schedule my academics mean just as much as my athletics. I currently have a 3.95 GPA and have been enrolled in both AP and IB classes. I scored a 23 on my ACT and plan on taking it again this fall. I am involved in groups like Spanish club, strength development for middle school athletes, and National Honor Society. This year I was awarded First Team All Conference and Academic All-American. Our team won our first playoff game since 2014 and showed lots of potential for next year. I am looking for a school that has not only a good lacrosse program but also an academic as well. In my future I plan on doing something in the engineering field, however this is not for sure. I don't look at myself as a normal high school student, and my classmates would agree. My maturity level and ability to persevere through stressful and tough times sets me apart from the others. I believe that I have a lot more to offer than can be displayed through words and hope that I can offer you not only my athletic skills but my academic as well.
