Tristin Vanderlind '20 Recruiting Profile

Through life every sport I have participated in has taught me something new, a new discipline,  skill or goal to achieve and Crew for me has brought all of the mentioned attributes together. I have been rowing for two years as I continue into my third year as part of North Bay Rowing Club as a Junior in high school under Coach Will Whalen and former Cal coach Patrick Shulkers. I am a very dedicated athlete and a leader, someone who motivates the team when confidence is low, someone who respects all athletes and devotes time to setting goals for the boat.

Along with setting goals for the team I set a high standard for myself, making goals and doing my best to achieve said goals. As well as at practice I take School very seriously,  as college is very important to me and my future. Extra work throughout the week on the erg completing 15,000-30,000 meters doing my best to do whatever I can to make me the absolute best athlete I can be. Crew to me has always been an exciting sport from the second you step off of the bus at a regatta to lining up beside the quickest boats at youth regionals the atmosphere can be intriguing and electric. I will always give 11/10 effort no matter the situation at practice or in the classroom.
