Rowing is a very tough sport, and that’s why I like it. It requires time commitment, perseverance, and teamwork.
Not only do I need to stay in shape, I really need to challenge myself and row at a competitive level. I want to go all out and perform at the best of my ability, athletically and academically. I also want to join a tight-knit team, where I can form close relationships with my teammates and make lifelong friendships.
When I go to practice, I use my opportunity to be a leader. As a team Captain, I have the chance to push my teammates and help them, as well as myself, reach our full potential. I tend to get competitive which motivates me to perform at my best.
I aspire to take the opportunity of joining a strong and competitive rowing program by always reaching for my best performance and competing at the best I can. I would be valuable to a team because I am dedicated, with proven results as a leader. I have demonstrated on my team that I can lead my teammates to victory. I am currently the 7 seat for my team’s 1st varsity eight. Last year I earned a varsity letter and I was awarded “Most Improved Performer” by our head coach. I also raced in my team’s only 8+ that was sent to compete in the Head of the Charles. My academics show my diligence and discipline, and my attendance at every practice shows my integrity and devotion to the sport and my team. I believe that I can make an impact on your college program as a leader.
