I started rowing in December of my Freshman year. I had originally signed up to get into better shape however I quickly realized how much fun it was and how incredible the team was. Crew has helped me learn my limits and how to push beyond them. I wasn’t very fast when I started, but once I was a few months into winter training I began to see the improvements that came with the work I had been putting in. At first working out as much as we did was difficult, but at this point working out has become a regular part of my life and I now enjoy it more than I ever thought I would. Rowing has become one of my favourite activities, along with playing guitar and spending time with my family.
I enjoy school for both the social life and the academics. My hope is to go to a school where I can not only improve my rowing, but also challenge myself academically and meet new people. I have always worked best in groups which is why crew is the perfect setting for me. Crew has come to play a huge factor in my everyday life and has changed my life for the better. I’ve learned how to work hard and have fun at the same time which is something I now value. I want crew to be the one thing I will always enjoy because I know that I want to row for the rest of my life. Joining the crew team was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I hope to keep improving my rowing skills through high school, college and beyond.
