My name is Kenny Kromer,
I am currently a Senior at Groton Dunstable Regional High School. I am a member of Westford Academy's Varsity Crew team. I have been on the team for three years, and it has provided for some of the greatest experiences of my life. Over this past winter and spring season I put in a lot of work to better my times and form. It truly payed off and I ended up being a member of the V1 4+ boat on my team.
I was just recently elected captain of my team for my senior year as well as recieved the coaches award from my team.
Right before COVID I had signed up to row with my team but unfortunatly the season stopped three days in and I couldn't actually join the team until fall of the next year. During the majority of the pandemic I didn't have access to an erg so I continued to stay in shape by swimming with a new team that was still holding practices. After two seasons of being on the crew team I knew the sport was definetly for me and my family and I decided to get an erg which has provided me access to continuing my dedication to rowing at home and not just in practice.
Before I joined the crew team I was on my schools Vasity Swim team for my Freshman year, I was also on a recreational swim team for seven year before that. I went to the AAU Junior Olympics in 2019 and medaled in four events. Swimming played a huge role in my life and I made some of my best friends through it.
I am currently active in Scouts BSA in my town and have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. I completed my project which was sensory boxes for kids with special needs in schools in and around my community. I have been in Scouts since the first grade. I have experienced so many cool and unique events through scouts. Two summers ago I went on a trip with my troop to the Florida Keyes on a week long scuba diving trip. I am also in a Venture Crew which is a coed scouting group, I am currently the Vice President. I have been in the Order of the Arrow, Scouting's National Honor Society, since 2018 and am actively serving as my lodges Vice Chief. Last summer I attended National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) with them and served as the acting Loge Chief as well as the acting Section Chief. This conference had roughly 6,000 people in attendence and was at the University of Tennese, Knoxville. There where various leadership trainings and a ton of other activities. Scouting has played a massive role in shaping me as the person I am and has provided me with access to so many things that other kids my age have never done and I am extremley grateful for it.
