Stephen Dumaresq '22 Recruiting Profile

When I first started to row I hated everything about it, but I knew I had to continue as quitting is not in my DNA. Now I can't wait to go to practice and push myself; rowing has become my passion. If you ask anyone on my team I firmly believe they will tell you I'm a hard worker, team player, helper, and a leader. As I mentioned earlier, I am not a quitter. This past summer I worked landscaping, which was my first full-time job ever. After the first day I hated it with a vengeance, but I had told the boss I would work the whole summer so I continued for 12 more hot and humid weeks. When I have school vacation I help my boss as her crew is depleted. Landscaping or rowing, whatever the weather conditions, from one extreme to the other, I get up early and put up with the heat or sleet and get the job done.  I know my times aren't awesome and I'm working on that, but what I do know is that I have the perseverance and potential to drop my times substantially.  Like seeing  a freshly mown lawn with perfectly straight lines, a set boat seemingly effortlessly gliding over the water is a thing of beauty. And to be part of either brings me satisfaction and joy.
